John Bell
Local Councillor for Kilbirnie and Beith in North Ayrshire Council. Born and bred in Kilbirnie John lives in the town with his wife Linda and three children. A founder member of the Radio City Association who redeveloped a derelict Bingo Hall into a healthy living centre he is still a director of the company. John set up Kilbirnie Town Centre Management Intiative who brought Christmas back to Kilbirnie, and has in the past chaired the Kilbirnie Civic week committee and the Spiers Trust. In the Labour administration from 2007 to 2011 he was the Council's Executive member for Children's Services and chair of the Education executive. He is Deputy Leader of the North Ayrshire Labour Group and when they took control in 2016 he became Depute Leader of the council and Cabinet member for Education. A graduate of the University of Strathclyde he has extensive experience in IT and continues to work part-time as IT Manager for a Facilities Services company and is a member of Unite Trade Union.
